Don’t be vain in your work

To what level to you really trust God?

Do you trust Him enough to…

…not look at your email for an entire 24 hours on a day off?

…leave some items on your task list and go to bed at a decent time?

…turn your phone OFF during dinner with your family?

It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat;  for God gives rest to his loved ones.    Pslam 127:2 (NLT)

In place of ‘useless,’ one translation uses vain (self-obsessed).

Ouch!

I had become very familiar with the ‘be still and know that I am God’ passage, but this one puts a whole new spin on the topic of working too much.  It really addresses this issue of taking matters into our own hands and not fully trusting the Lord to provide.

I don’t know about you, but I want to become God-obsessed…..not self-obsessed.

Jesus longs to be so much more than our ‘weekend deity.’  He desires for you and I to come to Him as our daily sustenance.  Our provider in every moment.

That’s what our God does.  That’s who our God is.  He never changes.  So, when our trust level in Him shrinks it’s because we’ve changed.

This week, tell a friend or pastor about an area you intend to trust God more with your life…then ask them to hold you accountable.

I would love to hear from you.  You can leave me a voicemail or a comment below.

Have a great week!
