Do you REALLY know all that God has for you? And if so, is this simply head knowledge or do you feel it deep down within your heart?
As our church kicked off a week of prayer last night, the focus scripture was Ephesians 1:3-23. First, I prayed for understanding. Then I began slowly reading through the passage. Then, one small phrase grabbed my attention and I had to stop and meditate on it the rest of the time we had together.
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)
“…hearts will be flooded with light…”
Simply stated, this is what God was speaking to me through this one verse. He longs for you and I to clearly and fully know all that we have in Him. And He didn’t say, “…minds will be flooded with light…” He specifically chose the word, hearts. So much more than an awareness of the blessings He has for us, our Father in Heaven wants our hearts to be deeply connected to His!
It’s like this. After unwrapping a gift you become knowledgable of what the person gave you. Maybe a gift card or a newly released book. But the gift takes on an entirely different meaning when the effort, love, and heart behind that gift are revealed.
Today, may your hearts be flooded with light so that ALL of God’s goodness and plans for you can be exposed.
