“Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer. “Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!” 1 Samuel 14:6 (NLT)
God speaks to us in a variety of ways, and about a multitude of things. He speaks to us to take that extra moment with our kids, or to spend one more quiet moment with our spouse before heading to work. He nudges us in the direction of a career change. And I would argue that He also places hurting people directly in our path each day so that we might take a moment to reflect the love of Jesus.
But we really don’t know…do we? We don’t know the outcome of our actions on God’s behalf. Referencing the Bible verse above, we simply act on a ‘Perhaps!’ Here’s the bigger issue. If we are not operating in ‘Perhaps,’ God isn’t able to use us. Our lives become mundane rituals without real life substance. It’s not that acting upon a ‘Perhaps’ gives God an opportunity to use us. Rather, it’s God gifting us with the opportunity to be used for His purpose!
Pray for that opportunity today. Perhaps He can use you for something very specific today.
